Sensory Spaces are Metro area Libraries offering special hours for members of the public who appreciate a sensory friendly environment. While individuals and families with special needs are welcome at our libraries during regular hours, these sensory times will offer quieter browsing, special programming, and other adaptive services that will vary by location.

Grimes Public Library is currently closed for the health and safety of our visitors, staff and community. All programs are canceled until further notice.

What: FREE tutoring in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math (elementary), research papers and correct citations, study skills, social skills, test taking skills, and/or homework help.

Who: Our staff tutor, Christine, has 23 years of experience in education working with children of all ability levels.  She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Master Educator Teaching License. She is an Instructional Coach for the Heartland AEA with an expertise in working with students with dyslexia.

When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5-7pm starting in October at Grimes Public Library

How:  Students can sign up for one 30-minute tutoring session per month. Call the Library 986-3551 to register.

Check out one of his only know remaining sculptures in this article featured in Smithsonian Magazine.
