Take your crafts to the next level with the Library’s CriCut Machine! Learn how this fantastic machine cuts stencils, vinyl lettering, and words/figures for scrap booking, and get new ideas to spice up your home decor! Have unfinished crafts? Bring them along! We’ll have our arts and crafts supplies at the ready, so take advantage and finish your projects!
This class is for ages 15+.
The CriCut Machine is part of the Library’s Makerspace. All items in the Makerspace are available to the public to use at the library. Scheduled Makerspace times are guided practice classes that allow the Library to exhibit and promote our Makerspace.
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog! Students in 1st through 5th grade may sign up for a 20 minute time slot to read to a therapy dog partner. Please call the library to register for an available time!
Grimes Public Library is currently closed for the health and safety of our visitors, staff and community. All programs are canceled until further notice.
What: FREE tutoring in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math (elementary), research papers and correct citations, study skills, social skills, test taking skills, and/or homework help.
Who: Our staff tutor, Christine, has 23 years of experience in education working with children of all ability levels. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Master Educator Teaching License. She is an Instructional Coach for the Heartland AEA with an expertise in working with students with dyslexia.
When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5-7pm starting in October at Grimes Public Library
How: Students can sign up for one 30-minute tutoring session per month. Call the Library 986-3551 to register.

Join us for this beginners book club for K-2nd grade readers. Read any sports book this month and come ready for discussion and activities. Small snack provided.
Join this monthly community-led group spreading awareness of and teaching basic ASL skills to early learners. Ages 3+.

Breaker Space: Break It & Make It
Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 19th @4-5:30pm as we disassemble old technology with the tools from our Makerspace. Participants will then have the opportunity to build a new creation! Ages 8+
Early Out Adventures are for school ages kids during early dismissals. This week, explore the power of wind as we build sail cars and explore how shape, angle, and size of the sail affect the movement of your car!
