Join Get Fit Grimes challenge participants and get your daily steps in! Meet at the Library for a walk to accumulate steps. One loop is 0.6 miles and 2 loops is 1.2 miles. Group will leave the library at 5:05pm.
Join us to wrap up our Get Fit Grimes Step Challenge. Team and Individual winners will be announced along with fun activities!
Explore the wonderful world of Orchids, Tillandsia and other Bromeliads. Join us to learn about epiphytes (plants that don’t live in regular soil) and other unique plants. We will discuss the various varieties and how to care for them. We will also cover the basics on how to encourage your plants to re-bloom.
Now is the time to prepare for a successful gardening season! Harness nature by collecting natural rainwater in a rain barrel, storing it until needed. This workshop will shed light on the proper way to care for and use a rain barrel, as well as how to make it visually appealing in your yard. Each registered participant will make a rain barrel free of charge and take it home at the end of the workshop. Space is limited; reserve your spot today!

Take this class and get started with composting! Composting is the best way to get natural fertilizer for your garden as well as reduce your carbon footprint. Master Gardener, Mamta, will be on hand to answer questions and help your composting be a success.
Grimes Public Library is pleased to welcome back antique appraiser Mark Moran for a 3 hour antique appraising event! Mr. Moran will appraise 40 items ranging from vases to autographs, books and paintings to furniture. Last year, Mr. Moran gave informal appraisals at the Grimes Library for 40 items ranging from $10 to $15,000 in value. This is a can’t miss show of the season! Spectators welcome.
Mr. Moran has over 20 years of appraisal experience and has co-authored more than 2 dozen books on antiques. He has appeared as a guest expert on “Antiques Roadshow” and has appraised antiques and collectibles at more than 1,000 events across the Midwest.

Assorted toys, including dolls (bisque, composition and plastic), windups and mechanical banks.
Metalware, including iron, bronze, brass, pot metal, silver, silver plate.
Clocks, including mantel, hanging and figural.
Costume jewelry, including brooches, bracelets, earrings.

Register a team of 1 – 4 players for 1 hour of intense Mario Kart Racing! Time slots are available in 1 hour increments between 10am and 4pm. Teams can register for 1 hour at each Mario Kart gaming station: Nintendo Switch on the TV, Wii on the TV, and Wii on the movie screen. Everyone is welcome to try out any of our Mario Bros activities located throughout the library all day!
