From January 1st to January 31st, Grimes Public Library will participate in Beanstack’s Fourth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Simon & Schuster. Books Like Us is a celebration of diversity, harnessing the transformative power of seeing oneself reflected in a book. Readers are invited to explore books from authors spanning an array of diverse backgrounds. Thousands of libraries across the nation will encourage their communities to read a target number of books. Top-performing libraries will earn rewards from Simon & Schuster, including book collections and virtual author visits.
At Grimes Public Library, we challenge our patrons to read 5 books (any books!) during the month of January to earn a free book (kids and teens) or an Audible gift card (adults)! To learn more about the authors participating in Books Like Us, check out the activity challenges. Happy reading!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Librarian? Even though Librarians are surrounded by books, that doesn’t mean they get to read all day – but that doesn’t make it any less fun! Join us each week on grimes.beanstack.org to complete an activity badge and become an honorary Grimes Public Library Librarian! For 2nd-6th Graders.
This free tutoring service is offered Wednesdays from 5-7pm via Zoom. Registration is required. Call the Library for additional information.
Unless noted otherwise, virtual events are posted on the Library website and facebook.
