Great Read-Aloud Picture Books

Posted on: March 02, 2016 | By: grimes

It’s Bridge to Reading voting time! Now through April 30th, read any or all of the 10 Bridge to Reading titles with your youngster and vote on your favorite!

The Bridge to Reading Award is sponsored by the Youth Services Division of the Iowa Library Association and chooses one title each year that has the best characteristics of a good “read aloud” picture book. Read aloud books are fun and interactive picture books that are great in daycares, storytimes, classrooms, or just reading aloud to your family. Have fun with these titles! They are written in such a way that you and your child can really interact with the book, whether that’s by reading in silly voices, repeating rhyming text, or asking fun questions.

Past winners of the award are Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by Eric Litwin, It’s a Tiger! by David LaRochelle, and Don’t Push the Button! by Bill Cotter.

There are 10 new nominees this year and we have them all at Grimes Public Library! Stop in and check one out! Click here for more information on the Bridge to Reading Award or to cast your vote!
