Posted on: February 19, 2016 | By: grimes

Beloved children’s classic and 1986 Newbery Medal Winner, Patricia MacLachlan’s Sarah, Plain and Tall tells the story of a widower, Jacob Witting, and his two children, Anna and Caleb. Though his children still grieve the loss of their mother, Jacob places an advertisement in the newspaper in search of a wife, and Sarah Wheaton enters their lives. After moving from her home by the sea to the Midwestern prairies, Sarah is sometimes lonely in her new life but works hard to create a new family that she and the Wittings can all be a part of.
