To celebrate the release of the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Grimes Public Library hosted a Jedi Training Academy on Tuesday, December 15. The young padawans were given a series of tests to prove they had what it took to be Jedi Knights. Here is a list of some of the tasks they completed:
- Make a Lightsaber- Padawans made lightsabers using paper and duct tape.
- Learn to Use the Force– Padawans competed in matches to test their use of the “Force” by seeing who could move the most cotton balls onto their opponent’s side of the table in one minute.
- Entertain Jabba the Hutt– Our training took a brief pause as padawans were asked to play music for Jabba the Hutt.
- Learn Wisdom from Yoda– Padawans learned to use their other senses to help them play “Pin the Ears on Yoda”.
After all of their training was complete, the padawans were given certificates to show that they were finally true Jedi Knights!
Congratulations to all who attended!
